Thin Lizzy fue una banda de hard rock irlandesa formada en Dublín en 1969 y liderada por el cantante, bajista y compositor Phil Lynott. El primer éxito de Thin Lizzy llegó en 1973, con «Whiskey in the Jar», una versión de una tradicional canción irlandesa, previo al enorme éxito del tema «The Boys Are Back in Town» (1975), todo un clásico de la historia del rock and roll.

«Thunder and Lightning» es el duodécimo y último álbum de estudio de la banda, lanzado en 1983.
